Playground visits

Another day at the playground. As more and more flats are built, the girls have more and more new playground to visit. We try to bring them to new playgrounds around the neighbourhood. Sometimes we cycle around looking for new playgrounds, other times we would drive further to the neighbouring towns. As long as the girls are happy, we're happy to sit around and watch them play. They usually have a spinning good time.

Plane or fish?

Isabelle drew this. She said it was an airplane but we think it looks more like a whale, or shark, or at least something fishy. I think she's rather detail with her drawings. I'm so very impressed. Well, she's barely three.

Punggol point jetty

This is punggol point jetty and we happened to catch a boat coming in from ubin that evening. The girls waved at the people on the boat and acted like the welcoming party. Just so funny. It was a nice windy evening and looking at the surrounding, it's going to be another empty promise by the government to make that place a bustling seafront with eateries and activities. Even if they do happen, my girls would have graduated from school already. Sigh...

MP4 exploded!

Remember the china-made MP4 that I bought for $100? The one that gave me so much problem within a month? The one that I could not get replacement even though it was still under the three month warranty? The one that I regret and advise everyone NOT to purchase? Remember? The episode did not close the way I thought it would when I kept it in the drawer. It EXPLODED! Thank goodness, it did not cause any further damage to me, my family or my property. Here are the pictures to prove. NEVER buy a china-made electronic product. Especially from china-run shops. They are unreasonable and ruthless. Look at the milk powder scandal. My advise is to resist.

Lunch with my girl

It was a friday and mummy got the car (brother went to canada) so I decided to fetch joelle from school and have lunch with her. Hopefully we can built on the bond that seems so threatened these days with all that's happening at home. I was so stressed that I'm always angry with my girl who probably could not understand why mummy was so uptight about everything. It was a period of bad relationship for both of us and I hope to work on it before it gets worst. So after surprising her with my presence at the school gate, I took her to downtown east for lunch at our favourite restaurant - subway. After lunch we walk around the new hub a little. Wanted to take her on the ferris wheel but she got scared watching others. She wanted to enter explorer kids but we were not prepared (she was in her uniform and I wore a skirt) so we ended up "sight-seeing". I promise her entry to explorer kids on another day. Hopefully I can fulfil it soon. It was a nice afternoon with my daughter and we had fun, just chatting. I plan to do this bonding trip with the girls individually from now on. It'll be good for all of us.

Sengkang park

Mummy got the car this weekend (brother went to canada) and decided to take the girls to sengkang park. It's still in the midst of developing I think. Empty and bare but seems ready. Anyway, we walked around a bit, ate some biscuits, took some photos and head on to MacDonald for a happy meal. It's nice to be able to take the girls for outings with a car. I miss the days I have my own car. The freedom, the convenience and the outings are what we miss the most. I do take them out by bus (the least), by train (the most) and by taxi but nothing beats packing them into their car seats and zipping about town. Daddy gets less complaints when mummy gets the car.

New artist on the block

Isabelle drew this face. With a pig's nose. I'm impressed. Come to think of it, I'm easily impressed with this little baby. Everything she does (though her sister might have done it earlier) seems like a big thing to me. This is my special baby. Joelle is my special firstborn. They're different... and I love them both.

A simple day

A simple day starts with isabelle playing quietly while waiting to be brought to her playschool. She can play by herself, something which joelle could not do.
A simple lunch could be fried bee hoon with vegie, egg and hot dogs.

Green hands?

Nothing grows around my house. It's definitely not a green house.

Mummy's lunch #10

Lemon baked salmon on japanese pickles, blanched broccoli with baby carrots and japanese rice balls coated with seaweed. The girls favourite. Healthy, yummy and easy. It's a happy meal.

Happy birthday MaMa!

We celebrated my MIL's 66th birthday on monday (27/4) with dinner at the bishan's golf range. Food is average and expensive but environment is ok. As her actual birthday is on wednesday (29/4), we head to my BIL's place at bishan for a celebration. The cousins enjoyed the singing of the birthday song, the blowing of candles (we delibrately put 6 big and 6 small candles for the girls to enjoy) and the cake itself. My FIL was working that night and missed the fun. In about a month's time, the girls are going to have another cousin to play with. Yes, Germaine is expecting a baby brother soon.

GOOD! I like the cake.

Adriel's 2nd birthday.

The girls attended Adriel's second birthday on sunday (26/4). It was a donald duck themed party. Adriel is as pretty as ever and Avriel is getting prettier too. Mummy managed to "steal" her away for a photo with my daughters. My charli angels... I really wished. Children are a blessing. I love having children. If only I'm younger and healtier... there I go again... I would have four.

Kids Kampong again.

It is a rather warm afternoon and the girls are given a choice of going to the beach, kids kampong or ikea and they chose KIDS KAMPONG! It's their second visit. The girls feed the fishes, the goose, ducks, chickens, birds and rabbits. This time issy joins in the feeding. She was rather aprehensive the first time. She seems more daring and happy to get dirty with the animals. She dares to feed the rabbits directly with her fingers and not just drop the feed into the container. She even kneel by the pond and feed the fishes all by herself after awhile. Cute. Besides daddy, no one else dares to touch the fishes! Slimy...

After feeding the little animals, daddy took joelle "long kang" fishing. Paid $14 to get in with a pail and net. Joelle caught about three fishes, daddy a bit more and mummy the most! As I watch them fiddling with the fast swimmers, I got challenged and ask them for a chance to try. Daddy was SHOCKED when I caught my first fish within ten seconds!!! I am out within 15 minutes with at least seven fishes. Yes, I am good. So good that I suffered muscle aches the next day. Goodness... a sign of aging.

After an our of squating and luring and netting "long kang" fishes, we were lured by the shop opposite selling live crabs. We bought three crabs for under $20 and steam them for dinner. Wow! It's so fresh and sweet. Worth the effort of having to scrub them down, watch them fight and participate in their death. Of course daddy did the work while I stand back and appreciate. Thank God for MEN!

Mummy's lunch #9

Isabelle's favourite. Porridge with lot of stuff! She likes porridge like this, where you add all the stuff in to cook. This pot has carrots, pumpkin, spinach, minced beef and chopped pork liver. It's very tasty especially when cooked with home-made stock. It's a simple and healthy lunch. I would like to venture and try fish again but the last time I cooked fish porridge, the girls do not really like it. But I'll try again.

Life is fair.

We have two daughters and they look really different. Out on the street, no one will guess they are sisters. Joelle looks like mummy, only prettier and Isabelle looks like daddy, a lot prettier though. We are happy (secretly) that they look like each one of us. Other than appearance, joelle got her daddy's pace and outgoing nature while issy is quiet, slow and steady like mummy. Mummy may talk a lot with friends and family but mummy is actually a very reserved person. Their characteristic and personalities are becoming more obvious and we constantly find them all so familiar as the days pass. They are becoming more and more like us. In their little ways, we are seeing ourselves and we enjoy "decoding the genes". These days you can hear us say "that's definately not my gene!" or "she's so like me (or you)." It's fun. We're enjoying their growth and their becoming.
Beauty and the beast. Haha! Daddy is always making faces and enjoying it. Many a times mummy would scream and complain that it's another picture ruin and he would laugh and agree to take another, only to repeat the silly act. So this time, mummy decides to show the world the crazy and naughty side of daddy. If I take the time to source through my photo collection, I might be able to produce a montage or photo wall of the pictures daddy "ruined". BTW... he's a funny daddy indeed. The girls simply adores his craziness and he easily cracks them up all the time. Oh and I need to clarify my eyebag issue. I have not been sleeping well for the past three weeks and I'm beginning to see the ill effect of sleep deprivation. I feel weak, tired but alert at the same time. It sucks. I need my doctor.

This dragonfruit is...

SUPER SWEET!
Daddy brought these fruits back from his trip to KL and they are super sweet and super purple. The girls like it so much that we (the parents) don't get to eat much. Issy says the seeds are sesame seeds! The ones found in singapore are not that sweet. I'm missing the fruits now.

T-shirt art again

The girls like this activity very much. Just get some white t-shirts from daiso ($2 each) and some fabric paint and markers. The rest is creativity! This is isabelle's first signature t-shirt and I think it's fantastic. Very nice indeed. I have add her name and age on the front and will repeat this activity regularly at different age intervals. This is already joelle's third piece. BTW, I already bought white t-shirts of different sizes from daiso just for this activity. And last week, I bought two adult size white t-shirt for mummy and daddy from giant and I plan to let the girls paint on them over the weekend. Will be quite a head-turner once they're done and on our backs! Can't wait...
