Our domestic manager has decided to leave after three years of service (nov 2006 to mar 2010). Her application to Canada was rejected in dec 2009 and so naturally want to reunite with her family (she has a son and two daughters) in the Philippines. I asked if she could tide us over the first term of school (new schools for both with new timing and routines) and she agreed. Now that the term has ended, she will leave. We'll miss her, terribly.
Our last christmas gifts for her three children. She had contributed to our family all these years with much honesty, dignity and diligence. My younger daughter adores her so much that she felt abandoned by her leaving. She cried, she ignored her, she even told me one night "I will not give auntie any more cards... I give to the wrong person!"... She felt cheated. I'm not sure how will she cope but I'm sure she will. I talk to her everyday in preparation for the coming departure and let her know that she's allow to cry and feel sad that the auntie whom she knew since birth is leaving for home permanently. However she will have to stop whining for her after we send her off at the airport. But between daddy and mummy, we know she might need at least a week to face reality.
Joelle will do fine. She just need to get into her new routine. She'll be in charge of the dishes for now.Mummy will be mourning for that lost of freedom, more than the need to cook and clean. For three years, I go for facials, hairstyling, massages, lunch appointments and retail therapy freely. Yes, without kids in tow. Now, I'll probably have to beg my mother for babysitting help or lie that I have work commitments. Sigh... it'll be tragic... till I get use to my new life style.
Daddy probably have to step down from his throne when mary leaves. He no longer can say "mary please do this, do that" anymore while lying on the beanbag. And he definitely could not rely on his deadbeat wife to respond to all his callings without grumbles and mumbles. I predict some arguments, some fights perhaps but I'm sure we'll pull through. We just need to stop being lazy and start doing the things we used to do before mary came.Anyway on her last day, we took her for a game of bowling and a nice buffet dinner. We presented her with a farewell card (with joelle's drawings) and a watch she picked out for her birthday (in april). We gave her her salary for this month plus bonus for the good work and lastly we handed her her passport and air ticket and a big hug goodbye.

All the best, Mary. We wish for you and your family good health, happiness and lots of love...
