Since the singapore flyer started operation, I have found many excuses NOT to fly it. "There's nothing to see. It's so boring. Too expensive." are the commonly used ones. However the truth had always been my fear of being confined in a small area for more than an elevator ride. I never admit that fear to anyone until the day I want to surprise a friend with a night flight for her birthday. It took me weeks to decide and almost 10 minutes before I hit the "check-out" button on the online booking site.
The day came (8 september), I tried to be brave but somehow my knees got weak and I started feeling a little uneasy. That was when I finally admit my little fear to my friend of seven months. She held my hands and assure me time and time again that my fear was unfounded. It took me about a quarter of the journey to stand up and walked around. By the time we were at the top, I was walking around without holding the bars or my friend's hands for that matter. I started to feel overwhelmed with passion for the night. It was beautiful. Spectacular would best describe the view. If it was my birthday and someone took me for a ride like this, I would have cried. That might have been uncalled for but being the emotional me, I would have teared.
The ride was over in 30 minutes and I knew at once that I would be back, again and again.

I was feeling on top of the world a week ago. I'm back at the pits now. I'm heading back to the flyer soon. I desperately need to feel on top of the world again. My first time was beautiful. The view was spectacular and the company was perfect. I sincerely pray that the next time I head back up, I would be able to leave behind the pain to remember the beauty of my first experience. Nothing is permanent and like the season, emotions change, feelings change, beliefs change. The only thing that will never change is memory and I'm happy that's what I'll always have.
