Friends for a decade and more...

This man I know since 1997. We met each other through work. He did not leave me with a good impression on our first introduction but... hey, that's how God works. However he was (according to him) attracted to me at first sight. Unfortunately I had a really nice boyfriend then.

We came out often (we share the same car park) to eat, drink and chat... as friends. We would talk till the wee hours of the morning, sometimes alone, sometimes with a few other friends. When I broke off with my boyfriend, he got himself attached to a girl he probably did not truly fancy. I could say that because we do meet for movies and karaoke session as a group (I was trying out with another of his pal actually). He would bring his girl along but they were hardly together (if you know what I mean). Yes, he had his arms around her in the movies, he carried her bags, he fetch and send her on his SRAD but they were having so much issues.

We eventually started dating in april 1998 and got married in april 2002. We had a wonderful marriage despite the many downs along the way. Yes, we would not deny that we almost threw in the towels once but we both tried our best to stay together and we did. That was perhaps the most distressful event in our lives as a couple. The other trials and tribulations, we ride them out together and became stronger both as individuals and as a couple.

Between us, we have experienced so much. Dave has been supporting me silently throughout my pain. My grandfather's death in 2004 took a heavy emotional toll on me but my husband supported me through that period. He allowed me to be angry, to be sad and even to be invisible for a while. He understands my need to find peace at my own pace.
My family's legal case in 2008 almost tore the family apart. I was hurt by the reality, by the truth. It was my husband who reminded me of what responsibility and filial piety meant and how we need to be answerable to ourselves and to God and no one else. My blood disorder almost killed me back in 2003. My husband carried me, bleeding and almost unconscious, and rushed me to the hospital and watched me struggle with death. I made it out, I survived, with my husband by my side.

I owe a lot to dave. He may be a man of few words. He may not express himself often. He may even seem uncaring and indifferent. But at times of need, he is always able to adequately put me at peace in his own ways. We might fight and argue over the most trivial issue, but at the end of the day, I know I'll always be able to depend on his love and support in times of need.

My husband is not the perfect man. Neither am I the perfect wife. But I believe the love between us will tide us through whatever is to come.

In my husband's arms, I feel safe. In God's arms, I AM safe. What more do I need?

I love you, hun. Always...

Swensen @ T2

It's been a long time since we head to the airport without a reason (usually it's to send or fetch daddy). So I decided to take them to the airport for dinner. Chose swensen for the ice cream promotion they had at terminal two. Joelle had this ham and cheese burger from the kid's menu while mum and isabelle had the crab meat fried rice (issy's the oriental girl). I was on a mission to consume as much beef as I could so it was a yummy-licious rib eye steak for me. Yumz!

It was a satisfying dinner I must say. With ice cream all round, I felt drowned by them actually. Isabelle is the happiest. She had her favourite durian ice cream and together with grandma, she cleaned out the rest of the other scoops of ice cream.
